New Chairman of the Supervisory Board

On 26 February 2016, Mr Georg Duffner has unanimously been elected new chairman of the supervisory board of Aluminium-Werke Wutöschingen. Beforehand, the company general meeting had elected him into the supervisory board as successor of Dr. Johannes Heimbach who had resigned from his position at the same time. Gebhard Freiherr von Salmuth is the new deputy and Ferhat Orak remains the third member as representative of the employees.

Georg Duffner (61), chairman of the management board of the Röchling group for 15 years, has already been cooperating with the family von Salmuth.

The graduate economist has gotten in the lead of the family owned company during an existential crisis and has transformed the Röchling group into one of the worldwide leading suppliers for semi-finished products and customized industrial products made from heavy duty plastics.

“The shareholders are very happy to provide AWW with an upright and experienced crisis manager who will support our CEO’s Burghard von Westerholt and Frank Aehlen”, says Johannes von Salmuth who, as chairman of the supervisory boards of Röchling group, has been in trustful cooperation with Georg Duffner for many years. “Since Mr. Duffner will be retiring from his position with Röchling group in May, he will be equipped with the necessary time for the demanding tasks at AWW.”

The parting member of the supervisory board Dr. Johannes Heimbach, who has been member of the board since his retirement as chairman of the management board at AWW, remains an advisor for the company– especially for technical issues. “We cordially thank Dr. Heimbach for his work in the supervisory board”, Gebhard von Salmuth says on behalf of all shareholders. “He has given important impulses to the supervisory board. Especially with regard to investment decisions, his considerable experience with aluminium in general and with AWW has been of great benefit for us.”
